Nick Marr – Radio Presenter & DJ

The Groove Selection | Jazz Funk Soul Radio (JFSR)

Soulful sounds, timeless grooves and music that makes you feel good.

Welcome to my radio page. I'm Nick Marr, a UK-based radio presenter, DJ and music creator with a passion for soul, jazz funk, rare groove, disco and the music that has shaped dance floors and generations of listeners.

I present The Groove Selection on Jazz Funk Soul Radio (JFSR), bringing together classic tracks, forgotten gems, influential artists and carefully selected grooves from across the decades.

For me, great radio is about more than playing records. It's about sharing the stories behind the music, rediscovering tracks you haven't heard for years and introducing listeners to something they might never have discovered otherwise.

The Groove Selection – My Radio Show

The Groove Selection celebrates the rich history of soul, jazz funk, rare groove and sophisticated dance music.

Each programme takes listeners on a musical journey, mixing familiar favourites with lesser-known recordings, artist features and specialist selections.

From the unmistakable sounds of 1970s jazz funk and the British soul scene to sophisticated 1980s grooves, classic disco and contemporary soulful sounds, the show is built around a lifelong love of music.

Previous programmes have explored themes including:

The Luther Vandross Story – Celebrating one of soul music's most distinctive voices.

British Jazz Funk – Exploring the UK's influential jazz funk movement.

Rare Groove – Rediscovering forgotten records and dance-floor classics.

Sophisticated Soul – Smooth, beautifully produced soul and timeless arrangements.

Jazz Funk Party – Uplifting grooves and dance-floor favourites.

Whether you're rediscovering old favourites or hearing these tracks for the first time, there's always something to enjoy.

About Nick Marr – DJ & Music Creator

Music has always been an important part of my life. My approach to DJing is influenced by the soulful sounds of the 1970s and 1980s, the energy of jazz funk, and the creativity of artists who combine great musicianship with memorable melodies and rhythms.

Alongside presenting The Groove Selection, I also create and release my own music under the name Nick Marr, exploring soulful house, R&B, UK garage, reggae and contemporary dance music.

My original songs often carry messages about confidence, self-awareness, relationships and personal growth, bringing together my experience in coaching and communication with my passion for music.

My debut single, Find Your Own Way, reflects that approach: uplifting soulful house with a positive message about making your own choices in life.
